I've always been a fan of pita, but it's always a little expensive. Making your own is totally worth it. It takes a little time, but the difference in taste is night and day. Warm and fresh out of the oven is the only way to eat pita.
Recipe here. To make it whole-wheat, just substitute in 2/3 of a cup of whole wheat flour instead of AP flour.
